The current focus of our Community Development Evangelism program (CDE) is helping families affected by HIV/AIDS. Referrals from a local hospital help us identify individuals and families in need of supplemental food. By providing food, as well as medical counsel and advocacy to these families during their crisis, trust is gained and many become open to the gospel and discipleship.

Other practical help is given as needs arise including transport to medical facilities, necessary home improvements, clothing, and items for children in these families.

S2S volunteers also provide help to other poor and medically needy persons and families, not just those affected by HIV/AIDS. This help has included funding, transportation, counsel, and patient advocacy for lifesaving heart surgery, surgery for bone infections, cleft lip repair, and a multitude of other medical needs. In Hill Tribe communities, CDE teams have installed water purification systems, held medical clinics, and built latrines to improve the health of those living in these villages.
